MY JOURNEY

About Eric Foisy...

RFP05544.jpg

Singer-songwriter, musician, arranger, and producer, Eric Foisy is once again
fully embracing a passion that has been part of his life for as long as he can
remember: creating, performing, and sharing music. His journey, shaped by
performance, musical direction, teaching, and production, has taken him from
Northern Ontario to stages across Canada, the United States, and Europe.

From a young age, Eric showed a strong interest in music and the performing arts.
While attending École secondaire catholique Algonquin in North Bay, he became the

only student ever to serve as musical director of the school’s Café chantant, a
production that would play an important role in his artistic development. From 1990 to
1994, while studying at the University of Ottawa, he returned to North Bay each summer
to serve as artistic director, musical director, and stage director of the production. During
that same period, he also performed as a solo artist and as a member of the Trio Foisy-
Legrand-Tremblay and the group Nostalgie.

In 1994, shortly after accepting a position on the board of directors of the Association
des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique (APCM), an unexpected opportunity
changed the course of his artistic journey: he was invited to join an international musical
performance company.

Between 1994 and 1998, Eric took part in three international tours, performing in more
than 250 shows across 25 U.S. states, five Canadian provinces, and ten European
countries. During those tours, he worked as a performer, backing vocalist, bandleader,
and vocal music director. The experience became one of the most formative chapters of
his artistic life, helping him develop extensive experience in live performance, ensemble
work, and musical direction.

Upon returning to Northern Ontario in 1998, Eric taught music at École secondaire
Sainte-Marie in New Liskeard, where he also helped modernize the school’s Apollo
production as stage director and artistic director. During this period, he contributed to
three studio recording projects, including two for the international organization
Mond’Ami.

The following year, he returned to North Bay and joined École secondaire catholique
Algonquin as a music teacher. There, he established a vocal ensemble program that
continues to contribute to the development of young artists today. In addition to leading
the school’s music program, he once again became involved with Café chantant as
stage director and musical director.

Over the years, Eric had the privilege of helping guide the development of several
young artists who would later pursue professional careers in the arts, including Marilou
Martin, Alain Rochefort of Blue Man Group, Cody Allen, Alicia Turner of the Broome
Turners, and country-rock singer-songwriter Cory Marks.

Beginning in 2005, growing professional and family responsibilities, combined with
challenges related to performance anxiety, gradually led Eric to step away from the
stage. Music, however, never truly left his life. He continued to take part in selected
projects while, over the years, searching for ways to rediscover the joy and freedom he
had always associated with creating and performing.

A first turning point came in November 2016, when he won the community category of
North Bay’s Got Talent with one of his original compositions. In 2019, he also returned

to a familiar role, sharing stage direction and musical direction duties with Shawn
Sasyniuk for Café chantant: rétrospective, presented as part of the production’s 50th
anniversary celebrations.

In 2021, Eric decided to go much further. After developing new ways to better manage
anxiety, he began an intensive journey of artistic development. He focused on
strengthening his voice and performance skills, deepened his work in songwriting and
composition, and developed a growing passion for arranging, recording, and music
production. He also built his own home studio, giving him a creative space where he
can now develop projects from the earliest idea through to the final recording.

In 2022, he launched his artist page to share this new chapter of his journey. Beyond
the music itself, he also chose to speak openly about the challenges that had kept him
away from the stage for many years, in the hope that his experience might encourage
others to continue pursuing what they love despite the obstacles they may face.
Since returning actively to music as a singer-songwriter, Eric has appeared on stage at
a number of events, including Saint-Jean-Baptiste celebrations and Canada Day
festivities in North Bay. He also took part in a concert celebrating Francophone music as
part of the City of North Bay’s 100th anniversary and opened for legendary musician
Breen LeBoeuf at the Capitol Centre.

His artistic journey has now entered a new phase with the launch of his own original
music projects. In collaboration with award-winning singer-songwriter Kevin Bazinet,
who has also become his vocal coach and a valued artistic collaborator, Eric continues
to grow as a performer, songwriter, and producer.

In October 2026, he reached an important new milestone with the release of his first
original single on major digital platforms, a song co-written and performed with Kevin
Bazinet. The release marks the beginning of a new creative chapter.
Eric is currently working on his first EP, scheduled for release in 2027. The project will
feature several original songs and represents the culmination of years of artistic growth,
development, and renewed commitment to creating music.

Today, Eric approaches this new chapter with the same passion that inspired him in the
beginning, but with greater experience, maturity, and a renewed artistic vision.
Songwriting, performance, arranging, and production now come together in a
creative approach that reflects who he is: authentic, heartfelt, and deeply human.
After many twists and turns, music has not simply returned to his life. It has once again
taken its rightful place — and the story is only beginning.
